The courses on offer are in the areas of childcare and social studies, computers and IT, business and human resource management and accounting. Of particular interest to this year's school-leavers will be the FETAC Level 5 Nursing Studies, Healthcare Support and Childcare programmes. This is particularly welcome this year as it is already reported that the CAO points levels have increased in many areas with particular pressure in the area of healthcare. The availability of Atlantic College’s FETAC programmes will provide an alternative route to higher education for many who don’t go directly to third-level.
Atlantic is also offering a special pre-college Computers/IT for College Success programme which will run over 30 hours. The course, which covers PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Moodle/Blackboard and Endnote, is practical in approach and is designed to save participants time and money when they get to college and to improve performance by using enhanced research, study and writing skills,
Next week to help smooth the path for those are in the throes of college and course choice, Atlantic College is offering free one-to-one guidance sessions with Dr. Niamh Rushe of N-RGISE Coaching. Niamh, who has experience of Guidance and Counselling at third-level, is well-known for providing practical advice and guidance and helping with CV and interview preparation. These guidance and counseling sessions are free to all but are by appointment only. The College is also holding an Open Information Session on Wednesday 25 August from 4 to 7.00pm. FETAC Course Coordinators and tutors will be there to advise, guide and direct students and help them with course choice. All are welcome.
